Full Mouth Reconstruction in Van Nuys, CA

Each tooth gets what it needs, from bonding to a crown or an implant.

The short answer

Full mouth reconstruction in Van Nuys moves in phases: getting your mouth healthy, building foundations, testing the new bite in temporaries, then placing final restorations. Dr. Faraz Farahnik guides each phase at our Los Angeles office, about 10 minutes from Van Nuys in light traffic, with a written plan before you commit.

Full Mouth Reconstruction

What does full mouth reconstruction in Van Nuys actually involve?

It is one coordinated rebuild of the upper and lower teeth, planned around how they meet. Instead of fixing problems one at a time, Dr. Farahnik designs the whole bite and then restores it in a set order.

That order matters. Health comes first, so decay and gum problems are treated before anything new goes in. Then come the foundations, such as implants where teeth are missing. Only after the new bite has been tested in temporary teeth does the final porcelain or ceramic work get made. Each step depends on the one before it.

When is a smaller plan the better choice?

When most of your teeth are sound and only a few areas need attention, Dr. Farahnik will usually suggest targeted treatment instead of rebuilding everything.

Other signs point the same way. If your bite is healthy and your concern is mainly the look of your front teeth, a makeover may fit better. If nearly every tooth in one jaw is failing, a full-arch implant bridge for that arch could be simpler. A reconstruction is a tool for a specific problem, not a default.

What happens before any tooth is prepared?

Dr. Farahnik gathers records and designs the bite first. He studies how your jaws close, how the teeth guide each other when you slide side to side, and where wear shows heavy forces.

The records he uses

Expect a thorough exam, imaging of roots and bone, photographs and impressions or scans of both arches. From those he builds a design for how the finished teeth should meet. That design guides every later step, so it gets more time than any other part of the plan.

How should you plan the days with surgery?

Keep the rest of the day light. If your plan includes extractions or implants, those visits ask more of you than the restorative ones, and some soreness afterward is normal.

Living in Van Nuys, you're home soon after, which helps. Ask Dr. Farahnik when you book how soon he'd like you back to exercise or heavy work in your case, and stock soft foods before the appointment. Other visits in the plan are far easier to schedule around.

Do you need a night guard after a reconstruction?

If you grind or clench, very likely. A custom guard takes the heavy forces of grinding so your new restorations don't have to.

Wear it as Dr. Farahnik directs, usually while you sleep, and bring it to checkups so he can check its fit. Clean it each morning and store it in its case. A worn-out guard should be replaced before it stops protecting you.

Does rebuilding teeth mean removing healthy structure?

Crowns and some onlays require shaping the tooth, and that can't be undone. It's one of the main reasons Dr. Farahnik chooses the most conservative option for each tooth.

Where bonding or a veneer can do the job, he uses it instead of a crown. Where a tooth is badly broken down, a crown may protect what's left. You'll see which teeth get which restoration, and why, in your plan.

Cost & financing

Is the cost of a smaller plan very different?

Usually, because fewer teeth and less preparation mean less lab work and fewer visits. If a smaller plan meets your needs, Dr. Farahnik will tell you.

He compares options side by side, so you can see how changing the number of teeth or the material for certain teeth changes the plan. The choice stays with you.

What affects the cost? How many teeth are treated, which materials are used, and what preparation or supporting care your plan needs.

Dr. Farahnik works with all budgets and price ranges. You'll receive a written treatment plan and fee after your exam.

Questions

Frequently asked questions from Van Nuys patients about rebuilding teeth

These cover candidacy, phases and care. More on full mouth reconstruction

Is full mouth rehabilitation the same thing?

Yes, the terms are used interchangeably, along with full mouth restoration. All describe a planned rebuild of most or all teeth, with attention to how the bite works as a whole.

Can a dentist near Van Nuys handle my routine cleanings?

Yes, if you prefer. Dr. Farahnik can share records and will still want to check the reconstruction himself at key points.

What are the steps of a full mouth reconstruction?

Records and bite design, then a health phase for decay and gums, then foundations like implants if needed, then trial restorations, then the final restorations and protection. Each step depends on the one before.

Am I too old for a full mouth reconstruction?

There's no fixed age limit. Your general health, the condition of your teeth and gums and your ability to manage the visits and daily care matter more.

Can my plan be built around my schedule in Van Nuys?

Largely, yes. Tell us your preferred days when you book, and the longer visits can be placed around them as far as healing steps allow.
